The legal limit for minimum tread depth on your tyres is 1.6mm, across the central three quarters around the entire circumference.
For safety reasons it is recommended you replace your tyres before the legal limit is reached. Many vehicle manufacturers recommend replacing at 2.0mm. At 1.6mm in wet weather it takes an extra car length (8 metres) to stop at 50 mph than if your tread had 3.0mm.
A regular check of your tyres can help you avoid 3 penalty points and up to £2,500 (per tyre) fine for having tyres worn below the legal limit.
Pop in any time and we would be more than happy to check the condition of your tyres, wheel alignment or wheel balancing.
